Tiffany Moore, 12, is shot and killed.
August 19, 1988
Moore is struck by a stray bullet while sitting on a mailbox near 225 Humboldt Avenue. She was to have left Boston the next day for South Carolina, where her family had moved to escape the increasing violence in Boston. Shawn Drumgold, 23, is convicted of firing the shot that killed Moore on October 13, 1989, but is released from prison on November 6, 2003, sues the city for wrongful conviction, and receives a $5 million settlement in 2014. A park is named in Moore’s honor in 2011.*
